Linking or zlinking

Originally and it seemed to work as I wanted it to work, this business of linking online accounts (profiles), or more precisely, elements of these acount services, seemed like a really good idea, the natural order of the next flow, if u will, the logical way that information of a kind might b seeming to go.

It seemed to work best for me when Google and Apple were aligned to a common goal (for want of better articulation), and Eric Schmidt sat on the Apple board.

I never really gave it much thought...it all just seemed to work seemlessly and in the mobile world of information, (cell phones) I kept getting pleasantly enlightened, periodically and I was in love, so to speak.

Over time, and I am fully aware of personal user constraints here..things have changed and now I do think about this...invariably because I'm having to look for s work around which is time consuming...

CIO - Social Computing - Open Source

Agenda

  • Business IT
  • Open Source
  • Social Computing/IT
Background

Open Source Software

Open Source has this to say about Public Policy and Open Source Software (PPOSS)

Read the report : www.opensourceconsortium.org/publicdocs/OSC_better_deal

Questions

Is our organisation one of those whose"Public sector IT procurement is 55% of the UK market and is largely controlled by 11 companies"? or are we a company who embraces the PPOSS.

If the latter applies how are we embracing this and how are we encouraging and supporting SME's and Open Source Software to meet business requirements.

Social Computing

Euan Semple has worked with the BBC and been instrumental in their approach to Social Computing in house. At the Record Management Seminar 2007 in Brighton his presentation showed many the benefits and fluidity of social computing for the first time. How can we merge this with business benefit?

Questions

There are some who say that "there are those who view their "Second Life" as their first life". I would go further and suggest there are those who view their web life as their first life" What can we do to keep them? Blocking websites may promote a mass exodus!
Are the remaining people the right people to take us through to the next level from an information management point of view?

Social Computing

I met Euan Semple at the Record Management Seminar 2007 in Brighton and the world of social computing was open.

I heaved a sigh of relief.....sigh.....there is a solution, it can all come together, it's not about containment and it is about empowerment, freedom and exploring the opportunites available to us out there....

there is a difference between what has gone before and what there is now

Thanks Euan
